It does its job well and really adds a whole new dimension to the PC gaming experience. In the end, this is a fantastic monitor that comes in at a great price point. Moral of the story is, there's bound to be some issues that people come across but for me Acer has been on a bit of a slippery slope lately. However, I am willing to live with the dead pixel this time instead of return it as it seems every time I do return the product I just end up receiving on that is worse off than the first one. This one happens to have a dead pixel on it. I don't know if it's just me, but 4 acer monitors (including this one) I have purchased in the last year have exhibited issues upon receiving them. To get back to the monitor itself, I only have one complaint about it. The only downside of turning on LightBoost is that the brightness and contrast do end up taking a hit, but the benefit seen in games definitely outweighs these cons. This time it was even better because now there was zero motion blur with all the action going on. Again, I was blown away at home smooth the experience was. Once that was all configured, I jumped back into CS:GO again to test it out. This is typically used only for 3D Display mode with 3D Vision capable games, so I had to use a 3rd party tool to enable it (Custom Resolution Utility or Strobelight LightBoost utility) for 2D. This monitor supports it at 100hz and 120hz. There is another display mode on this monitor called LightBoost which essentially causes the backlighting to turn on and off at the same rate that the monitor refreshes the screen. However, this monitor does have another trick up its sleeve. I can only imagine how great a lot of other games in my collection will look that support this high refresh rate. I was absolutely blown away, and sat with my jaw physically opened as a marveled at how smooth the motion was. I've played a bit with overclocking panels but that fails in comparison to seeing a "true" 144hz panel with my own eyes.Īfter going into my Nvidia control panel settings and enabling 144hz I hopped right into CS:GO to test out just how smooth the action would be. Good input selection (Wish it had Displayport though) LightBoost is supported at 100hz and 120hz Pros: Refresh rate can be set to 60, 100, 120 or 144hz Getting Lightstrobe to work is probably easier with an Nvidia card, it seems some people have trouble getting it to work with an AMD Gpu. Make sure to use the the Dual DVI-D they give you to get up to 100+hz (including the OnTrac Shipping, they came to my door took my signature and gave it to me 2 days from when I ordered it.) Not sure why people are having trouble, but I have had none at all. Overall Review: -Definitely recommend this monitor to anyone moving from a 60hz, cause it is really noticible (especially when I have to do work on my laptop) and on a budget.

Basically this is only a Con because it took some trial and error on color management to do this, but $180+tax, definitely not a complaint. Honestly at price I consider the best monitor I have ever bought, though it isn't as nice as a my BenQ Gsync 144hz (but that one cost twice the amount and it is only better by how the color looks), and completely blows out any of the 60hz monitors I have (including laptop).Ĭons: -Mild Ghosting with slight motion blur at first while game testing on it, until I turned on ToastyX Lightstrobe (#3) custom and ran it at 120hz, which dimmed the lighting and washed the colors, but with a little color profile changing you can get it all back with no motion blur and no ghosting at all. Easy to go into settings (nvidia control panel or what not) and change it to whatever Hertz you want to set it to up to 144 Basically the same Monitor as the Asus vg248qe (without the speakers / Display port) because of the same panel used inside.
